Before I could feel what I wanted I didn't think about my outer layer. But you came and stripped me of all that I knew I should be, so that I stood yours to mould with a blush in my cheek. And you tried to reclothe me in rope - binding all the whispers of rejected hopes into a concrete wish which defied all else I'd been taught. So I learnt how to think for myself, but how to do it so that no-one would notice anything but my top most covering of norm. And in return? I smoothed the slick scent of cinnamon into your muscles.

I was caught up in her arms, wrapped into the deafening embrace of a maternal friend. My shallow shuddering breaths defining my surroundings as my fear refused to scream, only whimpered. Fading memories on matte gloss paper were aiding a fading mind with failing eyes to recall days of baby boys in white frilly dresses and young men in white peaked caps. Subdued, dog-eared companions kept to pour life into an otherwise inert room succumb to the house's sorrow filled soot and stare listlessly from the ancient florals. How often do you look up? Don't bother searching the fiction centre of your brain for an answer which you think will make me happy, coz I know. Coz every time you look up, I look back down. I'm always looking down on people, though I know I'm no better. I know I'm no better than anyone, coz I can't change anything. When the lonely babies look up and cry. Scaredy Cat curled on an asbestos rug. Fibrous layer of fireproof poison. Lie safe on your naïvety. You've kept your 1970s lino, faded from its trippy glory. Peeling back to trip you up. I spilt tea on your surrealist tiles, that hated fitting in. You always did refuse to tessellate.
